This cactus was first found near the village of Nazareno in the department of Santa Victoria in the extreme northwest of the province of Salta in Argentina.
The single heads of the plant, which is also called Rebutia pygmaea var. nazarenoensis, reach a diameter of about 4 cm. Through numerous Kindl quickly creates a cushion.
The approximately 4 cm tall flowers are salmon pink with yellowish throat and a darker median stripe.
Mostly several flowers appear at the same time.
