The home of Rebutia is in South America: Bolivia and Argentina.
This Rebutia was found in 1993 by Hansjörg Jucker in Bolivia, west of Tarvita, Chuquisaca department at an altitude of 2800m and described as Aylostera mandingaensis in 2008.
The name indicates the site in the Cordillera Mandinga.
The body of the plant is glossy dark green and has only a few short spines per areole.
The flower is orange-red and reaches a diameter of up to 30mm.
