This species of cactus was collected by various collectors in Argentina, in the province of Salta. It is also listed as a variety of Rebutia violaciflora.
The green plant body hides behind thin, white spikes.
The approx. 4.5 cm large flowers are bright orange.
Several flowers usually appear at the same time.
