This cactus comes from Bolivia - South America and was named after the Czech cactus collector Karel Knize, who lives in Peru.
The plant, which would previously have been included in the genus Mediolobivia, develops finger-thick shoots that are only a few centimeters long.
Numerous children quickly create a cushion from which lots of intense orange flowers appear.
The flowers reach a diameter of approx. 3 cm, the outer petals have a darker central stripe.
