This species of cacti was collected in 1977 by Karel Knize in Bolivia, in the departments of Tarija and Chuquisaca.
The green plant body hides behind thin, white spikes.
The approx. 3.5 cm large flowers are bright orange-red.
Several flowers usually appear at the same time.
