Meanwhile, plants of the genus Notocactus have been recombined to Parodia. Since the name Parodia uebelmanniana was already taken, the new name Parodia werneri was assigned for this plant (Werner was Mr. Uebelmann's first name). In most collections, however, the plant is still listed under Notocactus uebelmannianus.
Several crimson, silky, shiny flowers usually appear on the plants, which can reach a diameter of up to 7 cm.
