The home of this plant is located in the Mexican states of Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas.
It was formerly placed in the genus Dolichothele.
It often grows upholstery, the individual shoots are spherical and can reach diameters up to 5 cm.
The brightly lemon yellow flowers that appear several times a year reach a diameter of 6 to 7 cm.
