This plant, consisting of light green shoots with yellow spines, quickly sprouts and forms attractive clusters.
It adorns first with pale yellow flowers, later with red fruits.
It was already described in 1768 and occurs in Texas, as well as various Mexican states.
Since 1997 it is listed as a variety of Mammillaria decipiens.
