This mammillaria occurs only on the Islas San Benito of Baja California.
The flowers of mammillaria are usually small and red or pink.
Mammillaria neopalmeri produces yellow flowers with a brown central stripe, complemented by green seed threads, a green stigma and yellow stamens. They have a diameter of about 2 cm.
When the flowers are pollinated, the red fruits appear after a few weeks.
But even without flowers and fruits, the plant is very attractive due to the interesting spiked dress with the rosette-like, white spines and the dark brown, hook-shaped, 1 cm long central spike.
