This plant, which occurs in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas near San Vicente, was already described by Friedrich Bödeker in 1926.
It used to belong to the genus Dolichothele and grows to form a cushion. The bright lemon-yellow flowers reach a diameter of 3 cm.
